As a Nurse Extern with Henry Ford Health's Genesys Health System, you will support direct patient care in an acute care setting under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This position is designed for nursing students to gain hands-on clinical experience while advancing their education and career in healthcare. You will work in a warm, collaborative environment located in Grand Blanc, Michigan, where you will contribute directly to patient safety, comfort, and overall experience.
Responsibilities
- Assist in providing direct patient care to meet safety and comfort needs under RN supervision
- Participate in the nursing process by offering input to help plan and implement patient care
- Respond to emergent situations according to established protocols
- Engage in continuous learning and professional development to enhance nursing skills
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent OR currently enrolled in the Henry Ford Health Early College Program with completion of two clinical rotations
- Enrolled in an accredited school of nursing with completion of two clinical rotations, including one in Med/Surg (acute care setting)
- Current Health Care Provider Certification
Schedule
- Start Date: December 14, 2026
- Must be able to work two 8-hour shifts within each 2-week scheduling period
- Full-time availability required for orientation week (Monday through Friday) at New Center One in Detroit
