GLPP Patient Care Technician

Grand Lake Health System is seeking a Patient Care Technician for our outpatient medical practice. In this full-time day position, you will serve as a clinical and administrative support professional, greeting and escorting patients while delivering direct patient care in a collaborative team environment. You will work Monday through Friday with no weekend or holiday requirements.

Responsibilities

• Greet and escort patients through the medical practice
• Complete clinical assessments by obtaining history of present illness and documenting findings accurately in the electronic medical record
• Collaborate with physicians and other health team members to implement physician orders
• Incorporate a holistic, patient-centered approach to care that extends beyond problem-focused treatment
• Implement and document clinical and technical aspects of patient care
• Evaluate patient response and understanding of the care plan using teach-back methods
• Communicate openly and appropriately with patients, physicians, and health team members
• Serve as a liaison between patients and outside agencies, businesses, and providers while establishing therapeutic relationships
• Respect patient rights to privacy, dignity, and confidentiality
• Maintain positive interpersonal relationships with internal and external customers
• Adhere to health system and workplace policies, procedures, safety guidelines, and infection control standards
• Assist with care and maintenance of work area equipment and supplies
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Basic clinical skills in patient care and clerical skills in an outpatient setting
• Current BCLS Healthcare Provider certification
• Excellent interpersonal skills when working with patients, families, physicians, coworkers, and the public

Education and Certifications

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or will be graduating within 6 months of hire
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through AAMA or other certifying body deemed acceptable by the Practice Manager, or will obtain this credential within 6 months of hire

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous medical practice experience
