Float Registered Nurse - PreOp/PACU - Outpatient Surgery per diem

Atlas Healthcare Partners is seeking a Float Registered Nurse for PreOp/PACU services at multiple outpatient surgery centers in the West Valley and Phoenix area. This is a PRN (per diem) position that provides flexibility while maintaining a minimum commitment of 4 shifts per month. You will float between multiple surgery centers, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for patients in the preoperative and postanesthesia care unit settings.

Clinical Setting

This position operates within outpatient surgery centers that run Monday through Friday with no weekends and no on-call requirements. You will work across multiple facilities within the Phoenix area as part of the float pool team.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, and cultural needs, and review patient history and physical with patient and family
• Review available information from other healthcare team members, diagnostics, and laboratory data; report abnormal results to physicians and appropriate caregivers
• Complete initial and ongoing assessments according to patient need and organizational policy
• Formulate and implement individualized plans of care, including discharge planning, utilizing assessment data and input from patient, family, and healthcare team
• Develop realistic, measurable goals in collaboration with patients and families, considering physical, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, age-specific, and educational needs
• Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of healthcare team activities
• Provide care based on physician orders and nursing plans in compliance with policies, procedures, standards of care, and regulatory requirements
• Promote continuity of care by accurately and completely communicating patient status to other caregivers
• Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching; revise the plan of care as needed
• Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record in a timely, legible, and policy-compliant manner
• Participate in evidence-based practice and may participate in research activities within clinical practice
• Participate in facility shared leadership, education, role development, and orientation of personnel, patients, students, families, and visitors
• Support growth of others through precepting and mentoring when appropriate
• Contribute to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care
• Actively participate in improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes
• May provide relief charge for staff and workflow management in some locations
• Perform all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, and professional standards
• Provide excellent customer service by demonstrating core and leader behaviors consistently

Scheduling

This PRN position requires a minimum commitment of 4 shifts per month, allowing flexibility in scheduling. Easy scheduling software and a personal staffing office are available to help you schedule shifts you want to work.

Travel Requirements

This float pool position requires travel between multiple surgery centers within the Phoenix area and West Valley.

Required Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or Diploma in Nursing, or higher
• Current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification
• Minimum two years of licensed RN experience in PreOp/PACU

Additional Requirements

• PALS certification required within 90 days of start date if assigned to ASC services with pediatrics

Preferred Qualifications

• PreOp/PACU licensed RN experience strongly preferred

Physical Demands

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently
• Physical agility and adequate reaction time to respond quickly to unexpected patient care needs
• Adequate hearing and visual acuity, including adequate color vision
• Fine motor skills, adequate eye-hand coordination, and ability to grasp and handle objects
• Ability to use proper body mechanics to assist patients in ambulating and transferring in and out of bed, chair, or wheelchair
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
• Must use standard precautions due to exposure to blood and bodily fluids
• Ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or by telephone
• May require periodic use of computer, phone, and general office equipment
