Family Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant

We are seeking a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to deliver primary medical care to patients across all age groups, from newborns through geriatric populations. You will work as part of a clinical team in a Rural Health Clinic setting, providing comprehensive primary care while maintaining accurate patient records and coordinating follow-up care.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial patient screenings, obtain patient history, conduct physical examinations, and implement preventive health measures in accordance with established practice guidelines
• Update and verify accuracy of patient records at each appointment
• Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient clinical problems and health care needs
• Record physical findings, formulate clinical plans, and document prognosis based on patient condition
• Review laboratory, x-ray, and emergency reports daily
• Determine the need for patient follow-up appointments and further treatment options
• Refer patients to specialist services as needed
• Treat acute diseases including routine viral illnesses, urinary tract infections, and other infections
• Treat and manage chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes
• Prescribe or recommend medications and other forms of treatment such as physical therapy or inhalation therapy
• Serve as a resource for patients regarding ongoing care information, counseling, and guidance for critical conditions
• Coordinate with other internal health professionals to develop comprehensive patient care plans
• Submit health care plans and patient goals for periodic review and evaluation
• Maintain all company metrics pertaining to productivity and quality care delivery
• Provide supervision to ancillary medical staff and supervise daily staff communication
• Agree to see walk-in patients on short notice as needed to fill schedule gaps and promote patient access to care
• Participate in special screening, training, and community outreach activities
• Participate in cooperative arrangements with other health providers in the area
• Perform all other medically-related assigned duties as directed

Required Qualifications

• Valid Tennessee State License (FNP or PA)
• Appropriate clinical experience, preferably in primary care (new graduates will also be considered)
• Ability to work effectively as a team member
• Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
• Pass drug testing and screening, background checks, and reference checks

Physical Requirements

This position requires considerable physical effort throughout most of the day, including squatting, kneeling, reaching, twisting, walking, lifting supplies, and sitting for extended periods.

Mental Requirements

You must be able to make sound clinical judgments based on assessment and available data and act accordingly. You must be flexible, innovative, and capable of working independently. Strong computer skills and written and oral communication abilities are essential. You must possess good interpersonal skills, the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, and tolerance for unpredictable circumstances and the inherent stress of working with diverse staff and patients.

Schedule

Full-time position. Open to candidates who prefer 2-3 days per week.
