Experienced Registered Nurse, Medical ICU, 36 hours, Nights

Lahey Clinic is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) on the night shift. This is a 36-hour per week position working 7 PM to 7 AM with every third weekend and holiday rotation commitment.

Clinical Setting

The MICU is a 12-bed acute care unit where highly trained nurses provide specialized care to medical patients requiring intensive monitoring and support. The patient population ranges from young adults to geriatric patients and includes those requiring ventilatory support, ECG monitoring, hemodynamic monitoring, intracranial pressure monitoring, and continuous venovenous hemofiltration (CVVH). The unit also cares for patients receiving TPA for stroke and those with hepatic-renal failure. Nurses work collaboratively with the pulmonary team and other specialists including Cardiac, Neurology, Infectious Disease, GI/Liver transplant, Nephrology, and Hematology services.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care within the Lahey Clinic Professional Practice Model and in accordance with the Massachusetts Nurse Practice Act, ANA Standards of Practice, and Code of Ethics
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with patients, families, physicians, and colleagues
• Assess patients and develop individualized plans of care considering physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, spiritual, safety, and age-appropriate factors
• Make clinical judgments and decisions regarding assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care
• Maintain current clinical knowledge and technical skills specific to critical care nursing
• Delegate and supervise care provided by other nursing staff in accordance with Massachusetts regulations and ANA principles of delegation
• Coordinate care across the continuum and facilitate collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Adhere to unit policies, procedures, and practice guidelines
• Participate in quality improvement activities and mandatory education
• Demonstrate commitment to customer service standards and Lahey Clinic's guiding principles

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of a state-approved and/or accredited School of Nursing
• Current license to practice professional nursing from the Massachusetts Board of Registration
• BLS certification from American Heart Association
• At least one full year of experience as a practicing Registered Nurse in an acute or sub-acute care setting
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
• Demonstrated clinical skills and technical knowledge to provide care for critical care patients according to nursing policies, procedures, and unit-specific competencies

Schedule

• 36 hours per week
• Night shift: 7 PM to 7 AM
• Every third weekend and holiday rotation commitment

Compensation

Hourly pay range: $37.00 - $95.37. Actual compensation is determined based on factors including seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, and other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices as applicable.
