Experienced LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - Behavioral Health - Children's Behavioral Health Center - Inpatient - Days (Fall 2026)

OU Health's new Pediatric Behavioral Health Center is opening in December 2026, and we are seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse to join our inpatient team on the day shift. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a new behavioral health facility dedicated to serving children. Candidates should expect a start date after September 1, 2026. All applicants must be 21 years of age or older and provide two professional references as part of the hiring process.

Clinical Setting

You will work in the Pediatric Behavioral Health Inpatient unit, providing preventative and health care to an assigned group of pediatric patients under general supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist with nursing assessments through data collection, observation, and obtaining vital signs on assigned patients
• Provide care according to established nursing plans
• Observe changes in patient condition and notify supervisory personnel of significant changes
• Provide routine ostomy care, nasogastric tube placement and feeding, and discontinuation of oral-gastric tubes
• Initiate and monitor oxygen therapy according to physician orders or unit protocol
• Suction and clean tracheotomy sites
• Administer oral, intravenous, intramuscular, intradermal, subcutaneous, sublingual, vaginal, rectal, and topical medications
• Prepare patients for routine physical examinations and assist physicians during examinations
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of education requirements for NCLEX-PN examination
• Current Basic Life Support certification issued by the American Heart Association (required upon hire)
• Current LPN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or current multistate LPN license (eNLC)

Knowledge and Skills

• Knowledge of professional nursing theories, practices, techniques, and procedures
• Ability to organize, coordinate, plan, and evaluate nursing needs of assigned patients
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
