The opportunity

Job Description

Exeter Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Inpatient Operating Room. In this role, you will provide professional nursing care within the OR unit, coordinating care planning with other disciplines and supporting safe, effective surgical patient care.

A $5,000 sign-on bonus is available for eligible hires. Bonus amounts for positions under 40 hours per week will be prorated. Per diem roles are not eligible.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to hospital policies, ANA Standards of Practice, and the Nursing Code of Ethics
  • Ensure safe, timely, and accurate medication administration, IV administration, and transcription
  • Maintain accurate, timely, concise, legible, and compliant documentation
  • Integrate organizational policies and national practice guidelines into patient care planning
  • Serve as an expert resource for clinical practice content development, including policy and procedure review or development
  • Perform comprehensive physical assessments and obtain patient histories upon admission
  • Conduct systematic, ongoing assessments based on patient condition and unit standards
  • Utilize evidence-based assessment techniques and tools to collect relevant patient data
  • Prioritize patient care problems and needs effectively
  • Make sound clinical decisions independently and collaboratively while managing assigned patient care responsibilities
  • Balance efficiency and cost management within assigned workloads
  • Recognize personal limitations and seek assistance or collaboration when needed
  • Adjust plans and reprioritize work in response to unexpected situations
  • Manage multiple demands while prioritizing the patient care needs of the entire unit or department
  • Communicate effectively during all patient hand-offs
  • Anticipate and identify patient care needs and initiate appropriate plans of care
  • Establish mutually agreed-upon patient care outcomes
  • Identify patient priorities and discharge planning needs using patient assessments, best-practice standards, multidisciplinary team input, and patient and family input
  • Evaluate and modify plans of care based on patient outcomes and feedback
  • Assess the effectiveness of interventions and implement adjustments as needed
  • Identify patient education needs and collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide appropriate learning opportunities
  • Document patient education, interventions, and patient responses clearly and concisely
  • Independently develop formal patient education materials
  • Develop and participate in community education programs and health screenings
  • Precept new employees by establishing goals and assisting them in achieving those goals
  • Facilitate and encourage an environment that promotes critical thinking
  • Deliver 1 to 2 formal presentations annually to peers, such as case studies, new equipment in-services, or educational programs
  • Support the learning and professional development needs of colleagues
  • Understand team members' roles and appropriately delegate tasks and responsibilities based on licensure, education, and experience
  • Assign personnel effectively and recognize when follow-up is necessary
  • Monitor and evaluate appropriate staff utilization during assigned shifts
  • Pursue formal education to maintain and advance clinical and professional knowledge and skills
  • Seek assignments that provide growth, challenge, and expanded responsibility
  • Anticipate the need for and acquire new skills and training
  • Demonstrate the ability to work across multiple specialty areas, units, or care environments
  • Maintain active membership in professional organizations and share relevant information with the department
  • Maintain specialty certifications as required
  • Effectively utilize information technology in clinical practice

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license from New Hampshire or any other compact state

Conditions of Employment

  • All staff must be vaccinated against influenza (flu) as a condition of employment.

Compensation

  • Hourly rate: $35.00 - $63.15
  • Actual compensation is determined based on factors including seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, and other applicable factors permissible by law
  • Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law
