MercyOne Genesis is seeking a full-time Emergency Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department at our Silvis, Illinois medical center. This 150-bed acute care facility serves a three-county region and offers 24/7 emergency services along with comprehensive specialty care including ICU, cardiac, stroke, and surgical services.

As an ER RN, you will provide rapid assessment and emergency care to patients across all acuity levels in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You will work collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver timely, evidence-based emergency nursing care.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial triage and assessment using Emergency Severity Index (ESI) or similar triage tools within minutes of patient arrival
  • Perform focused and comprehensive assessments appropriate to each patient's presenting condition
  • Identify immediate patient needs and formulate rapid response care plans
  • Initiate and revise care plans based on evolving patient conditions
  • Administer medications, treatments, and procedures per physician orders and protocols
  • Initiate life-saving interventions including CPR, defibrillation, and airway management
  • Prepare patients for diagnostic testing, procedures, or transfer to higher levels of care
  • Continuously monitor patient status and response to interventions
  • Reassess and update care plans based on clinical changes
  • Document all assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and promptly
  • Communicate critical information to physicians and team members
  • Provide clear and compassionate updates to patients and families
  • Participate in shift handoffs, trauma alerts, and interdisciplinary huddles
  • Maintain proficiency in emergency procedures and equipment including IV insertion, EKG interpretation, and wound care
  • Follow protocols for stroke, sepsis, trauma, and cardiac emergencies
  • Use clinical judgment to escalate care and activate rapid response or code teams
  • Ensure medication safety by following the "5 Rights" of medication administration
  • Balance care for multiple patients with varying acuity levels
  • Delegate tasks appropriately to support staff
  • Maintain situational awareness and adapt to rapidly changing conditions
  • Adjust communication and interventions based on patient age and developmental level
  • Respect cultural beliefs and practices in the delivery of care
  • Adhere to infection control, safety, and emergency preparedness protocols
  • Use personal protective equipment appropriately
  • Report unsafe conditions and participate in safety initiatives
  • Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies
  • Participate in continuing education and competency validation
  • Uphold ethical standards and maintain patient confidentiality

Schedule

  • 12-hour night shifts (6:00 PM - 6:30 AM)
  • Three shifts per week
  • Every other weekend
  • Holiday rotation

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in nursing
  • Current Iowa RN license (MercyOne Genesis requires a current Registered Nurse license in either Iowa or Illinois at the time of hire; a secondary RN license for the other state must be obtained within 12 months of the hire date)
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 6 months of hire
  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter - Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three months of hire
  • High language proficiency, intermediate to high math ability, and high critical thinking ability
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, shared leadership environment

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Compensation

  • Pay range: $32.74 - $49.11 per hour
  • Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles
