Diagnostic Technologist II - Operating Room

Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking a Diagnostic Technologist II for the Operating Room at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest. In this role, you will provide diagnostic quality radiologic imaging under physician direction while maintaining strict radiation protection standards. You will operate advanced imaging equipment including portables, hybrid rooms, C-Arms, and O-arms within the operating room setting, performing radiologic exams to physician specifications while adhering to sterile technique and safety precautions.

Clinical Setting

You will work in the Radiology Operating Room department, providing intraoperative imaging support during surgical procedures. This is a full-time position based at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Responsibilities

• Safely move and operate imaging equipment in the OR setting, including portables, hybrid rooms, C-Arms, and O-arms
• Adjust image quality and turn equipment on to perform exams according to physician specifications
• Ensure prompt submission of images and documentation to PACS before sending
• Use appropriate exposure factors, collimation, lead shielding, and proper distance to maintain radiation safety standards
• Document LMP, fluoroscopy time, mGy, and room time
• Ensure appropriate exams are ordered and attached to the correct patient within 30 minutes after procedure
• Perform radiologic images in accordance with department standards; label anatomy when required
• Prepare injector, provide contrast, and verify proper injector settings under surgeon supervision
• Coordinate daily work duties within the team and coordinate timing of exams within department guidelines
• Perform other duties as assigned to ensure smooth department operation

Schedule

Day Shift, Monday through Friday, 0730-1600, with call, holiday, and weekend rotation required. Cross-campus coverage and technologist rotation as required by the department.

Required Qualifications

• Technical school diploma or graduate of accredited radiography program or equivalent
• Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems
• Ability to build comprehensive reports and effectively convey information to others
• Knowledge of medical technology and terminology
• Skill in collecting and analyzing complex data
• Anatomy knowledge
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania (required within 180 days of hire)
• RT - Registered Technologist Radiology - State of Pennsylvania (required upon hire)

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's degree graduate of health science program

Physical Demands

This position requires the ability to lift and carry 40-50 lbs, including pushing/pulling patients on beds or stretchers (requires 29 lbs push force) and lateral transfers up to 50 lbs of patient weight. Frequent to continuous standing and walking are required. You may be required to perform activities including kneeling, bending, squatting, and performing CPR.
