CTT Instructor: Registered Nurse - Certified Nursing Assistant Instructor Program Mgr

Serrato Corporation is seeking a Registered Nurse to serve as a CTT (Career Technical Training) Instructor and Certified Nursing Assistant Instructor Program Manager for a Job Corps center. In this role, you will be responsible for all aspects of instruction and the learning experience of students in the nursing and certified nursing assistant program. You will ensure rigor and relevance of subjects taught while collaborating with academic instructors in the delivery of applied academics.

Responsibilities

• Teach basic principles and concepts of vocational nursing skills to students
• Maintain discipline within the classroom to ensure maximum learning
• Collaborate with academic instructors on curriculum development and applied academics delivery
• Ensure adequate classroom preparation and use all available curricular resources
• Provide instruction and remedial training to help students overcome barriers to obtaining industry certifications or participating in advanced training
• Maintain student personal folders with test scores, evaluations, attendance, incident reports, and achievement awards
• Record and forward daily attendance to the Records Department
• Assist students in completing resumes
• Provide contextual learning opportunities to improve academic skills in the CTT environment
• Work with the Center Director's designee on disability accommodations for students with disabilities
• Ensure students understand the importance of career success and applied academic standards
• Update electronic Training Achievement Records (eTARs) weekly to credit student skill attainment
• Tailor instructional methods to individual learning styles, abilities, and career goals
• Comply with all state regulations related to testing and certification
• Intervene and correct inappropriate student behavior and nonperformance
• Develop year-round job-shadowing opportunities with community, industry, and employers
• Incorporate work-based learning as a primary instructional approach
• Perform driving responsibilities and monitoring activities when needed
• Promote a positive classroom atmosphere to ensure student motivation and participation
• Work with Student Personnel Officer and Health and Wellness Manager on student health and safety matters
• Collaborate with center staff to develop student schedules maximizing career technical class time
• Remain current on available industry certifications, prerequisites, and examination requirements
• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of current industry skills, safety, and health requirements
• Deliver training using workplace materials and employer and Industry Council input
• Ensure instructional materials align with latest industry and training standards
• Collaborate with students on setting and revising short- and long-term career goals
• Provide input on the Career Development Services System Plan
• Establish strong student-instructor rapport
• Participate in student performance evaluations as required
• Provide periodic feedback and assessments of progress toward career development goals
• Maintain building and equipment; ensure proper care of equipment and supplies
• Ensure instructional approach supports career development goals, Zero Tolerance Policy, and college and career readiness
• Adhere to property control policies and procedures
• Follow CDSS plan and Code of Conduct daily
• Maintain good housekeeping and comply with safety practices
• Comply with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulations, Quality Assurance Plan, Serrato policies, Job Corps notices, and center policies
• Model, mentor, and monitor appropriate Career Success Standards
• Help students become more employable through continuous reinforcement
• Update Case Notes at least monthly with progress from all areas
• Participate in mandatory staff training
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Licensed Registered Nurse in Texas
• Minimum two years of nursing experience
• One year of long-term care service provision in a facility
• Completed course in teaching adults
• Supervisor of Nurse Aides experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel)
• Computer literacy with basic computer functions, email, internet, and basic programs such as Adobe Acrobat
• Ability to perform major duties in nursing instruction with current knowledge of subject area
• High level of communication, interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills
• High level of ability to motivate, inspire, and train students effectively
• Valid State Driver's License

Licenses and Certifications

• Licensed Registered Nurse in Texas
• Valid State Driver's License
• Certification by union, trade organization, or national trade certifying organization (Regional Office may waive if center is unable to hire certified instructors, but candidates must pursue certification)

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk and listen
• Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
• Specific vision capabilities required include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision
