CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant)

Studebaker Healthcare Center in Norwalk, California is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to provide direct patient care in our long-term care and rehabilitation setting. Working under the supervision of licensed nurses, you will assist residents with daily activities, personal care, and mobility while maintaining a safe and comfortable environment.

Clinical Setting

This is a full-time position in a long-term care nursing home and rehabilitation center. You will work rotating shifts, including weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care focused on safety and comfort, including assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADL)
• Obtain and record vital signs and weights
• Position patients in correct body alignment
• Assist patients with ambulation and transfers, and apply adaptive equipment as ordered
• Care for patient personal belongings
• Make occupied and unoccupied beds and prepare patients for scheduled rehab therapy and transports
• Participate in the care planning process and implement care according to established care plans
• Perform skin care treatments and apply simple clean dressings, slings, stockings, and support bandages under direction of the licensed nurse
• Feed or assist patients with meals and provide additional nourishment and hydration per care plan
• Record patient oral intake and output
• Use electronic medical records according to established business processes
• Answer call lights promptly, deliver messages, and clean areas of spillage or accidents

Required Qualifications

• Current California Certified Nursing Assistant Certification
• Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification
• Successful completion of a state-approved certified nursing assistant program
• Knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering simple treatments and providing bedside patient care services as permitted by state regulation
• Knowledge of basic medical asepsis and standard precautions
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Ability to communicate clearly in English
• Ability to perform basic mathematical operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
• Ability to contribute to a patient-centered environment

Preferred Qualifications

• High school education or high school equivalency diploma
• Basic knowledge of computer use or willingness to learn

Additional Requirements

• Must attend a minimum of 12 hours of continuing education programs provided by the center to maintain certification
• New graduates are welcome and no prior CNA experience is required
