CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant - PT - (Straight Weekends)

Good Samaritan is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to provide resident-centered care in our long-term care facility in Algona, Iowa. This is a part-time position working straight weekends on the evening shift, offering 16 hours per week at $18.00 to $25.50 per hour.

Clinical Setting

You will work in a not-for-profit long-term care facility serving seniors with a commitment to quality care in a Christian environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct resident care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a registered nurse
• Assist residents with bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, and undressing
• Obtain and record vital signs
• Assist residents with transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct transfer techniques and equipment
• Provide range of motion and passive exercises
• Assist with meals and snacks, provide water and supplements, and create a positive dining experience
• Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens
• Provide psychosocial support and personal care to assigned residents
• Aid providers and nursing staff with procedures as needed
• Document resident interactions, care outcomes, behavior, activity, and dietary information
• Communicate residents' changing conditions and care-related concerns to the charge nurse
• Provide housekeeping and laundry services to maintain clean living areas
• Assist with and document wellness and recreational programs, encouraging resident participation
• Follow infection prevention and control policies and Personal Protective Equipment use
• Participate in departmental or organizational committees and task forces as needed

Required Qualifications

• Minimum age of 16
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of hire date by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through endorsement
• Satisfactory completion of yearly department-specific competency testing
• Maintenance of all department-specific required certifications
• Minimum of 12 hours of continuing education annually
• When applicable for the state, certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry
• Depending on facility requirements, may need to be classified as a Sanford Category II Driver, requiring a motor vehicle report, proof of valid driver's license, and medical qualification to perform essential driving functions per Sanford Driving Policy

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
• Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care
