The opportunity

Job Description

Prairie View Gardens, a not-for-profit senior living community in Kearney, Nebraska, is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for part-time night shifts in our assisted living department. This is an 8-hour shift position working 24 hours per week on a rotating schedule.

Clinical Setting

You will provide resident-centered nursing care in an assisted living environment, working under the supervision of a charge nurse. The facility serves seniors with a commitment to quality care in a Christian environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct personal care assistance with activities of daily living, including bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, and undressing
  • Obtain and record vital signs
  • Assist residents with transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct transfer techniques and equipment
  • Provide range of motion and passive exercises as appropriate
  • Assist with meals and snacks, provide water and supplements, and create a positive dining experience
  • Support food preparation and dining activities
  • Administer prescribed medications as delegated by a licensed nurse and within scope of practice as defined by state regulations
  • Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens and gather vital signs to assist providers and nursing staff
  • Document outcomes related to resident care, medication administration, behavior, activity, and dietary intake
  • Communicate changing conditions, medication follow-up, and care-related concerns to the charge nurse
  • Provide housekeeping and laundry services to assist residents with maintaining clean living areas
  • Assist with and document wellness and recreational programs, encouraging resident participation
  • Deliver age-appropriate care related to physical and psychological needs per the resident's care plan
  • Provide care to residents with dementia as needed based on facility location
  • Follow infection prevention and control policies and proper Personal Protective Equipment use
  • Provide direction to students when they are providing resident care as part of their training

Schedule

  • Shift: 10:30 PM to 6:30 AM
  • Every other weekend and holiday required
  • Part-time, 24 hours per week
  • Rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays may be required based on departmental needs and resident census
  • Committee meeting attendance may be expected

Required Qualifications

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing
  • Minimum age of 16
  • Satisfactory completion of yearly department-specific competency testing
  • Maintenance of continuing education credits, with a minimum of 12 hours required annually
  • Maintenance of all department-specific required certifications
  • When applicable for the state, certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory motor vehicle report (may be required depending on facility and responsibilities as a Sanford Category II Driver)
  • Medical qualification to perform essential driving functions per Sanford Driving Policy

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
  • Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in assisted living

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary range: $18.00 to $25.50 per hour
