Join Good Samaritan, a not-for-profit organization with over 100 years of experience providing housing and services to seniors, as a Certified Nursing Assistant in our long-term care facility. This part-time evening position offers the opportunity to deliver compassionate, resident-centered care in a Christian environment.
Clinical Setting
You will work at GSS SD Wagner Center in Wagner, South Dakota, providing direct care to residents in a long-term care setting under the supervision of a registered nurse.
Responsibilities
- Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents according to their care plans
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing and undressing
- Obtain and record vital signs
- Assist residents with transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct transfer techniques and equipment
- Provide range of motion and passive exercises
- Assist with meals and snacks, provide water and supplements, and create a positive dining experience
- Provide psychosocial support and personal care to assigned residents
- Aid providers and nursing staff with procedures as needed
- Document resident interactions, care outcomes, behavior, activity, and dietary information
- Communicate residents' changing conditions and care-related concerns to the charge nurse
- Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens
- Provide housekeeping and laundry services to maintain clean living areas
- Assist with and document wellness and recreational programs, encouraging resident participation
- Follow all infection prevention and control policies and use Personal Protective Equipment appropriately
- Participate in departmental and organizational committees and task forces as needed
Required Qualifications
- Minimum age of 16
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of hire date by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through endorsement
- CNA training and certification provided by facility
- Satisfactory completion of yearly department-specific competency testing
- Maintenance of a record of continuing education credits, with a minimum of 12 hours required annually
- Maintenance of all department-specific required certifications
- When applicable for your state, certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry
- Depending on facility requirements, may need to be classified as a Sanford Category II Driver, requiring a motor vehicle report, proof of valid driver's license, and medical qualification to perform essential driving functions per Sanford Driving Policy
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care
Schedule
- Part-time position
- Evening shifts
- 8-hour shifts
- 20 hours per week
Compensation
- Salary range: $19.00 to $25.50 per hour
