Join Good Samaritan Society, a not-for-profit organization with over 100 years of experience providing housing and services to seniors. We are seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide compassionate, resident-centered care in our long-term care facility in Ellsworth, Kansas.
This is a part-time evening position working 8-hour shifts with approximately 23 hours per week. You will work under the supervision of a registered nurse, delivering daily living assistance and basic health care to assigned residents.
Responsibilities
- Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance including bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, and personal hygiene
- Obtain and record vital signs
- Assist residents with transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct transfer techniques and equipment
- Provide range of motion and passive exercises
- Assist with meals and snacks, provide water and supplements, and create a positive dining experience
- Provide psychosocial support and emotional care to residents
- Aid providers and nursing staff with procedures as needed
- Document resident interactions, care outcomes, behavior, activity, and dietary information
- Communicate residents' changing conditions and care-related concerns to the charge nurse
- Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens
- Provide housekeeping and laundry services to maintain clean living areas
- Assist with and encourage participation in wellness and recreational programs
- Participate in departmental committees and task forces as needed
- Follow all infection prevention and control policies and Personal Protective Equipment use requirements
Required Qualifications
- Minimum age 16
- High school diploma or GED preferred but not required
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state-certified CNA within four months of hire date by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through endorsement
- Satisfactory completion of yearly department-specific competency testing
- Maintenance of a minimum of 12 hours of continuing education credits annually
- Maintenance of all department-specific required certifications
- When applicable for the state, certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry
- Depending on facility requirements, may need to be classified as a Sanford Category II Driver, requiring a motor vehicle report, proof of valid driver's license, and medical qualification to perform essential driving functions per Sanford Driving Policy
