CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant - Local Traveler

As a Certified Nursing Assistant, you will provide direct resident-centered care in a long-term care setting. Working under the supervision of a registered nurse, you will assist residents with daily living activities, personal hygiene, mobility, and psychosocial support while maintaining infection prevention and control standards.

Clinical Setting

This position is based at GSS MN Luverne, a not-for-profit senior housing and services organization. You will support multiple locations within a 75-mile radius of the permanent address in Luverne, MN.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct personal care assistance including bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, and undressing
• Obtain and record vital signs
• Assist residents with transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct transfer techniques and equipment
• Provide range of motion and passive exercises
• Assist with meals and snacks, provide water and supplements, and create a positive dining experience
• Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens
• Aid providers and nursing staff with procedures as needed
• Document resident interactions, care outcomes, behavior, activity, and dietary information
• Communicate residents' changing conditions and care-related concerns to the charge nurse
• Provide housekeeping and laundry services to maintain clean living areas
• Assist with and document wellness and recreational programs, encouraging resident participation
• Participate in departmental and organizational committees and task forces as needed
• Follow all infection prevention and control policies and Personal Protective Equipment use requirements

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age
• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state-certified CNA status within four months of hire date by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through endorsement
• Minimum 3 months experience in long-term care
• Valid driver's license and satisfactory motor vehicle report (Category II Driver requirement)
• Medical qualification to perform essential driving functions per Sanford Driving Policy
• Satisfactory completion of yearly department-specific competency testing
• Maintenance of all department-specific required certifications
• Minimum 12 hours of continuing education annually
• For applicable states: certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry
• For Colorado positions: Qualified Medication Administration Person (QMAP) certification with the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment may be required depending on facility

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
• 6 months experience in long-term care
• Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care

Schedule and Compensation

• Employment Type: PRN (as-needed)

• Weekly Hours: Varies
• Minimum 30 hours per month required
• Minimum one weekend shift per month required
• Salary Range: $17.00 - $25.50 per hour
• Premium Pay: $7.00 per hour on all hours worked
• Weekend Shift Differential: $1.25 per hour
• Evening/Night Shift Differential: $1.25 per hour (6:00 PM - 6:00 AM)

Travel Requirements

• Travel required to support multiple locations within 75-mile radius of permanent address
• Valid driver's license and satisfactory motor vehicle report required
