Wagner Good Samaritan is a 50-bed senior skilled nursing facility in Wagner, South Dakota, specializing in long-term and post-acute care services. We are seeking a full-time Certified Nursing Assistant to join our nursing team on the night shift. In this role, you will provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a registered nurse.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and daily living assistance to assigned residents, including bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, and undressing
- Obtain and record vital signs
- Assist residents with transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct transfer techniques and equipment
- Provide range of motion and passive exercises
- Assist residents with meals and snacks, provide water and supplements as appropriate, and create a positive dining experience
- Provide psychosocial support and personal care to assigned residents
- Aid providers and nursing staff with procedures as needed
- Document resident interactions, care outcomes, behavior, activity, and dietary information
- Communicate residents' changing conditions and care-related concerns to the charge nurse
- Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens
- Provide housekeeping and laundry services to maintain clean living areas
- Assist with and document wellness and recreational programs, encouraging resident participation
- Participate in departmental committees and task forces as needed
- Follow infection prevention and control policies and Personal Protective Equipment use requirements
Schedule
- 12-hour night shifts from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am
- Every other weekend and holiday rotation required
- Flexible job schedule
- 40 hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license required at time of hire, or state certified CNA within four months of hire date by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through endorsement
- Minimum age of 16
- High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred but not required
- Satisfactory completion of yearly department-specific competency testing
- Maintenance of a record of continuing education credits, with a minimum of 12 hours required annually
- Maintenance of all department-specific required certifications
- When applicable for the state, certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry
- Depending on facility requirements, may need to be classified as a Sanford Category II Driver, requiring a motor vehicle report, proof of valid driver's license, and medical qualification to perform essential driving functions per Sanford Driving Policy
