This position is a full-time clinic-based Licensed Practical Nurse role in the Women's Health department at Rochester Regional Health in Massena, NY. You will provide direct patient care, assist with examinations and treatments, and support patients' physical and emotional comfort in an outpatient clinical setting.

Responsibilities

  • Observe, report, and document patients' physical, emotional, and mental symptoms, conditions, and reactions
  • Participate in conferences about patients' conditions and care plans
  • Perform nursing duties using standard procedures
  • Assist physicians with examinations, treatments, tests, and dressings
  • Maintain or discontinue intravenous infusions; may add IV bottles without medication to existing infusions
  • Recognize and take immediate appropriate steps to address shock, respiratory distress, fainting, and hemorrhage
  • Assist in patient rehabilitation and encourage purposeful activities, diversional activities, and normal range of motion exercises
  • Apply principles of body mechanics and ensure proper body alignment
  • Assist patients and families in accessing community services
  • Administer nasogastric feedings, gastrostomy feeds, enemas, douches, and perineal care
  • Apply ace bandages, elastic stockings, compresses, simple dressings, Aqua-K pads, and ice bags
  • Provide baths, oral hygiene, shampoos, back rubs, and patient shaving
  • Insert and irrigate catheters; irrigate colostomies
  • Take and record weights, temperatures, pulses, respirations, and blood pressures

Schedule

  • 40 scheduled weekly hours
  • 8-hour days, Monday through Friday

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from an approved school of practical/vocational nursing or equivalent
  • Current New York State licensure or permit to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse
  • BLS certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact efficiently with sick and/or irritable patients, gain their cooperation, and allay apprehensions

Physical Requirements

  • Medium work level: exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • Frequent walking, standing, or squatting required

Compensation

  • Pay range: $26.02 to $38.13 per hour
  • Base pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts; eligible for additional pay components

Union

  • CSEA (MH); note that not all per diem roles are union eligible
