Circulating Nurse, Operating Room

MU Healthcare is seeking a Circulating Nurse for the Operating Room at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. In this role, you will provide comprehensive nursing care throughout the surgical process, working as part of a dynamic surgical team to ensure the highest quality patient outcomes.

Clinical Setting

You will work in the Operating Room at University Hospital, part of MU Healthcare's academic health system. University Hospital is located at 1 Hospital Drive, Columbia, MO.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for assigned patients
• Provide direct patient care before, during, and after surgery
• Assess patients and develop effective care plans with strong clinical judgment
• Report pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients to physicians, head nurse, charge nurse, and nursing supervisors; record observations accurately and concisely
• Plan, direct, and participate in education for patients, families, community members, and health professionals
• Maintain standards of nursing care and implement hospital and department policies and procedures
• Participate in meetings, in-services, and quality and performance improvement groups
• Participate in nursing research
• Provide quality care and work with the multidisciplinary team to ensure high patient satisfaction
• Complete unit and department-specific duties as outlined in department documents

Schedule

• Three 12-hour shifts per week, 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
• Fair share of on-call duties and holiday assignments
• On-site work arrangement

Required Qualifications

• Active Missouri Board of Nursing RN license or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN license
• If you hold a Nurse Licensure Compact license and your primary state of residency changes, you must apply under your new state of residency within 30 days
• One year of RN experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Participation in a professional nursing organization
• Additional licenses or certifications as determined by the hiring department

Physical Demands

This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 pounds.

Compensation

• Base pay range: $34.46 to $51.02 per hour, based on experience
• Choose between Sign-On Bonus OR Retention Rewards (Operating Room only):
• Sign-On Bonus: $20,000
• Retention Rewards: Up to $15,000
• Relocation Support: Additional $5,000 if relocating from over 50 miles away
• Retention Reward (Option 1): $2,000 per year for up to 5 years, totaling $10,000
• Student Loan Repayment (Option 2): $2,000 per year toward student loans for up to 5 years, totaling $10,000
