Job Description

Join Yale New Haven Health System as a Children's Operating Room Registered Nurse. In this role, you will provide specialized perioperative nursing care to pediatric patients in the operating room setting, supporting surgical procedures and ensuring safe, patient-centered care for children and their families.

As an integral member of the YNHHS healthcare team, you will uphold the organization's mission, vision, and values while practicing professional nursing within the legal and ethical framework established by the Connecticut Nurse Practice Act, the American Nurses Association Scope and Standards for Nursing Practice, and the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses. Responsibilities

  • Collect pertinent data and information relative to the healthcare consumer's health or situation
  • Analyze assessment data to determine actual and potential diagnoses or issues
  • Identify expected outcomes individualized to the healthcare consumer or situation
  • Develop and modify a plan of care that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes
  • Implement the identified plan of care
  • Coordinate care delivery and transitions in care
  • Employ strategies to promote health and a safe environment
  • Evaluate progress toward attainment of outcomes
  • Practice ethically and in a manner congruent with cultural diversity and inclusion principles
  • Communicate effectively in all areas of practice

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Licensed and currently registered nurse in the State of Connecticut
  • Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification or ability to obtain within one month of hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Clinical specialty certification

Physical Demands

This position requires prolonged standing and walking. You will frequently bend, reach, push, pull, twist, and lift. You must be able to assist with pushing, pulling, and lifting patients ranging from five to three hundred pounds. The role requires use of sight, hearing, and touch. You may be exposed to infectious diseases, physical and mental illness, emotional situations, and end-of-life conditions and death. The position involves moderate stress and risk of injury from patient care, with standing and walking required for more than half of the day.
