Charge Registered Nurse - Cardiac Medicine/Progressive Care

Regions Hospital is seeking an experienced Charge Registered Nurse for the Cardiac Medicine/Progressive Care Unit (South 8). This role offers the opportunity to lead nursing care for a diverse patient population requiring general medicine or progressive level care, including patients with complex medical needs and multiple comorbidities.

Clinical Setting

South 8 is a high-acuity unit within a Level I Trauma Center that cares for patients with conditions including congestive heart failure, NSTEMI, chest pain, coronary artery disease, post-intervention sheath management, COPD, pneumonia, cardio-respiratory problems, end-stage renal disease, peritoneal dialysis, liver failure, and alcohol withdrawal. The unit experiences a high volume of daily admissions, discharges, and transfers. South 8 also houses a remote telemetry cockpit staffed by specially trained PCAs who perform cardiac rhythm interpretation.

Responsibilities

As a Charge Registered Nurse, you will lead clinical practice and manage the working environment through a Shared Governance Model focused on evidence-based nursing practice. You will provide patient and family-centered care while managing complex clinical assessments and a wide variety of disease processes.

Schedule

0.75 FTE, nights, with every third weekend rotation.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree or Associate Degree in Nursing with a minimum of 1 year of RN experience (internal new graduate applicants may meet minimum requirements with an Associate Degree in Nursing)
• Active registered nurse license from the State of Minnesota
• CPR for the professional rescuer or BLS for healthcare providers
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and strong ability to work with patients from varied cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds

Preferred Qualifications

• BSN or MSN, strongly preferred with expectation that BSN/MSN is obtained within 5 years of hire
• Two years of experience in cardiac medicine or progressive care specialty at 0.8 FTE or above (minimum of 3,328 hours)
