Charge Nurse- Registered Nurse-RN-Neuro-Telemetry-MedSurg-PT-Nights

Wellstar is seeking a Charge Nurse - Registered Nurse to lead daily unit operations on the Neuro-Telemetry Medical-Surgical unit during night shifts. This is a part-time position offering a $10,000 sign-on bonus for qualified candidates.

As the RN Clinical Charge Nurse, you will direct and oversee unit activities to ensure safe, high-quality patient care delivery. You will serve as both a clinical leader and caregiver, often maintaining a modified patient care assignment while managing the broader operational needs of the unit.

Clinical Setting

You will work in a Neuro-Telemetry Medical-Surgical unit within an integrated health system supported by the WellStar Shared Governance Model and Professional Nursing Practice Model. Practice is guided by evidence-based standards and WellStar Core Competencies.

Responsibilities

• Round on every patient daily to evaluate quality and appropriateness of care, providing corrective action and peer coaching as needed
• Perform or provide oversight of the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) using evidence-based practice and critical thinking
• Provide or oversee relationship-based, patient-centered care delivery through comprehensive hand-off communication, interdisciplinary evaluation, and patient teaching
• Practice using current clinical standards with focus on safety and quality
• Communicate with nurse manager and assistant nurse manager regarding care delivery needs or employee performance concerns
• Coordinate safe, quality patient care delivery and documentation, promoting interdisciplinary communication and a respectful, inclusive clinical environment
• Demonstrate teamwork and collaboration through fiscally responsible practice that supports recruitment and retention of healthcare team members
• Participate in and support performance improvement, research utilization, and shared governance initiatives
• Ensure patient, family, and staff confidentiality and corporate compliance; complete all required mandatory education and proficiencies
• Serve as preceptor or mentor for professional nurses, staff, and students to develop a qualified workforce
• Promote evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement
• Uphold all organizational policies, procedures, clinical competencies, legal and regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards
• Monitor equipment inventory, location, and utilization to ensure staff have necessary tools
• Participate in planning and requesting resources for high-quality care; assist with staffing during shortages or census surges
• Proactively plan for patient care across the care continuum and participate in protocol and procedure development
• Make patient assignments considering new graduates, float staff, and patient acuity
• Conduct daily discharge and length of stay reviews
• Round with physicians and surgeons
• Assign surgery beds in conjunction with surgery schedule
• Consult with nursing administration on bed flow and availability

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited or approved school of nursing with an Associate Degree, Diploma, or Baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN)
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (single state or multi-state compact)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• BLS Instructor certification
• BLS Provisional certification
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience
• Licensed and knowledgeable in nursing practice as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act
• Uphold the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association

Preferred Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• Experience as relief charge nurse with clinical expertise
