Certified School Nurse

Hereford Elementary School seeks a Certified School Nurse to provide comprehensive health services and case management for students. This full-time position reports to the Building Principal and Assistant Superintendent and operates on a 190-day school calendar as a member of the Collective Bargaining Unit.

Clinical Setting

You will work in an elementary school environment, serving as the primary health care provider and case manager for student health needs. You will oversee staff nurses at the elementary level and ensure students have access to necessary health care to support their learning.

Responsibilities

• Act as case manager in writing and implementing Individualized Health Plans (IHPs)
• Provide oversight of staff nurses at the elementary level
• Dispense and monitor medications administered during the school day
• Provide appropriate, necessary health care to allow students the least restrictive learning environment possible
• Provide emergency first aid to students and staff
• Conduct mandated health screenings, health testing, and examinations; recommend appropriate action as needed
• Issue reports and correspondence as mandated
• Facilitate operation of the health room including ordering supplies, compilation and maintenance of accurate health records, and preparing and submitting reports
• Attend district training sessions and field trips as needed or required
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal and/or Assistant Superintendent

Required Qualifications

• Valid PDE School Nurse Certification
• Active Registered Nurse License
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with others as part of a team
• Good organizational skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Flexibility

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as a Certified School Nurse
