Job Description

AdventHealth is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician IV for the Chemo Infusion Center in Orlando, Florida. This is a full-time, day-shift position that plays a critical leadership and operational role in pharmacy services, with particular focus on chemotherapy and hazardous medication preparation, inventory management, compliance, and staff development.

Clinical Setting

This position is based in a hospital pharmacy environment serving a chemo infusion center, with responsibilities spanning central and decentralized pharmacy operations, cleanroom compounding, controlled substance management, and advanced pharmacy automation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise-level inventory operations, including procurement processes, formulary alignment, and perpetual inventory accuracy
  • Oversee controlled substance programs, diversion prevention efforts, and compliance with DEA and institutional policies
  • Conduct advanced audits and operations reviews to advise on inventory integrity analytics, cost containment strategies, medication shortage mitigation, and supply chain resilience
  • Lead system-wide medication safety initiatives, including risk mitigation, error prevention, and safety education
  • Facilitate root cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts
  • Serve as a pharmacy safety champion and advisor to leadership
  • Oversee hazardous medication handling protocols, environmental monitoring, and spill response programs
  • Lead departmental training and ensure full compliance with USP <800>, OSHA, and institutional safety standards
  • Direct pharmacy compliance efforts, including audit preparation, documentation, and policy development
  • Lead readiness for regulatory inspections and accreditation surveys
  • Advise on regulatory changes and ensure alignment with institutional goals
  • Serve as a liaison to clinical, operational, and administrative teams to advance pharmacy services
  • Collaborate actively to optimize patient care, resolve medication-related issues, and ensure continuity of pharmacy services across shifts and staffing assignments
  • Lead technician development programs, including onboarding, competency assessment, and career progression
  • Mentor staff and contribute to workforce planning and engagement
  • Lead training of new pharmacy technicians, precept pharmacy technician students, and support pharmacy residency experiences
  • May determine competency or assist in formal performance assessments
  • Execute expert-level pharmacy technician duties with mastery across all core and advanced workflows, systems, and operational programs
  • Demonstrate leadership in medication preparation, sterile and hazardous compounding, inventory and controlled substance management, and regulatory compliance
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in advanced pharmacy services and operational strategy
  • Provide oversight and strategic guidance across all pharmacy practice areas, including central and distributive operations, decentralized services, ADC management, and cleanroom environments
  • Lead initiatives to improve distribution efficiency, resolve complex workflow issues, and implement best practices across service lines
  • Provide coverage in at least two advanced pharmacy practice areas such as hazardous cleanroom compounding, CII safe management, medication history programs, decentralized clinical support, environmental monitoring, technician inventory check, or pharmacy inventory and purchasing management
  • Oversee the preparation and dispensing of high-risk and sterile medications, including chemotherapy and investigational drugs, ensuring compliance with USP <795>, <797>, and <800> standards
  • Develop and enforce protocols to ensure accuracy, safety, and quality in medication handling and delivery
  • Champion the optimization and integration of pharmacy automation systems, ADC platforms, and software tools
  • Lead technology upgrades, system configuration, and cross-functional training initiatives
  • Collaborate with informatics and IT teams to enhance system performance and user experience

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 or more years of contemporary hospital pharmacy experience
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) license
  • NHA Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) OR PTCB Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree

Schedule and Shift

  • Full-time position
  • Day shift: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM or 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
