AdventHealth is seeking a Certified Patient Care Technician for our Medical/Surgical Neurology unit in Tampa, Florida. In this full-time day shift position, you will provide direct patient care under the supervision of registered nurses, supporting patients across varying acuity levels and clinical needs.
Responsibilities
- Perform treatments according to policy and procedure, providing age-appropriate and culturally sensitive patient care
- Assist in the delivery of patient care as a team member under the direction of a registered nurse
- Participate in obtaining nursing history and report abnormalities to the registered nurse
- Assist in identifying patient needs and respond to clinical emergencies appropriately
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff
- Follow prescribed isolation guidelines and demonstrate appropriate use of protective equipment
- Perform handwashing according to policy and enforce safety regulations
- Document and report all procedures in accordance with department policy
- Participate in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities and support quality standards and initiatives
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Exhibit a desire to learn and continuously upgrade skills
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification
- One of the following: Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A), or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification
Preferred Qualifications
- One or more years of applicable PCT experience
- Previous bedside patient care experience in an acute care unit, unit secretary role, monitor technician position, or equivalent medical experience
