The opportunity

Job Description

As a Certified Nursing Assistant, you will provide direct care support to Veterans and Members in a healthcare facility setting. You will assist with activities of daily living, medical procedures, vital sign monitoring, and documentation while working closely with licensed nursing staff to ensure quality resident care and comfort.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Veterans/Members with transfers, ambulation, eating, bathing, dressing, toileting, and personal hygiene
  • Follow instructions to use simple procedures and devices to strengthen limbs and maintain flexibility
  • Assist nursing staff with medical procedures including suppositories, enemas, treatments, post-surgical care, and post-mortem care
  • Monitor physical and mental status by taking vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations), obtaining urine, sputum, or stool samples, and tracking input/output
  • Complete medical record and worksheet documentation for all assigned Veterans/Members
  • Assist with dining services including transporting residents to the dining room, communicating menu choices, and serving meals
  • Respond timely to patient requests for assistance via verbal communication or call light in accordance with the Resident Bill of Rights
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of patient areas by changing bedding and linens
  • Report to and assist licensed nurses in emergency situations following established policies and procedures
  • Transport Veterans/Members to appointments outside the facility as needed
  • Perform clerical duties such as answering phones and filing as assigned
  • Participate in facility processes including Huddle Boards, Problem Solving, Job Breakdown Sheets, Success Tracking, and Standardized Work
  • Participate fully in the QAPI (Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement) program

Required Qualifications

  • Active Certified Nursing Assistant Certification in the State of Arizona
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of para-professional nursing care, treatment, and services
  • Knowledge of client laws and regulations governing para-professional nursing practices
  • Knowledge of practices and procedures for using medical equipment
  • Knowledge of practices and techniques for maintaining a safe, orderly, therapeutic, and hygienic environment
  • Skill in applying methods and techniques of para-professional nursing practices
  • Skill in applying and interpreting client laws and regulations
  • Skill in using and maintaining medical equipment
  • Skill in recording, maintaining, filing, and retrieving medical records
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships
  • Ability to learn, implement, and monitor client methods

Schedule

  • 12-hour shifts from 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM
  • Every other weekend required
  • 30 hours per week
