The opportunity

Job Description

Join UH Geneva Medical Center as a Certified Nursing Assistant on our day shift (6a-6p) team. In this role, you will provide direct patient care support, assisting with activities of daily living, patient mobility, and maintaining a safe, clean environment for residents. You will work under the direction of the RN, responding to patient needs and communicating any changes in patient condition.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living including bathing, grooming, dressing, feeding, and toileting as delegated by the RN
  • Assist patients with ambulating, turning, and positioning as delegated by the RN
  • Provide assistance with patient admission and discharge
  • Obtain vital signs and complete point-of-care testing (POCT)
  • Change bed linens and maintain a clean, uncluttered environment for residents
  • Answer call lights and monitor patient safety alarms
  • Stock and maintain inventory of resident care supplies
  • Assemble and set up equipment and supplies for patient care
  • Perform utility duties associated with patient care
  • Communicate any changes in patient condition to the RN
  • Participate in quality and patient experience initiatives
  • Comply with all policies, standards, and Protected Health Information (PHI) requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Current state CNA certification
  • Proficiency with patient care equipment, telephone, nurse call system, and pager

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous work experience as a nursing assistant

Physical Demands

This position requires frequent standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs. You will frequently stoop, kneel, and crouch, with occasional climbing, balancing, and crawling. The role involves constant reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, and eye/hand/foot coordination. Sitting is rare in this position.

Schedule and Travel

  • Day shift: 6a-6p
  • Travel requirement: 10%
