The opportunity

Job Description

Join Mercyhealth as a Certified Nursing Assistant Unit Clerk supporting our Medical Surgical unit. In this part-time role, you will combine clinical patient care with administrative duties, working the night shift on a schedule of two 12-hour shifts per week with weekend and holiday rotation.

You will serve as a vital link between patients, nursing staff, and hospital operations. Your responsibilities span both direct patient care and unit coordination, ensuring smooth workflow and excellent patient experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care as assigned according to CNA standards, shift routines, and hospital policies
  • Process orders and patient charges accurately and timely
  • Maintain and update medical records for current patients
  • Answer telephones and call lights promptly, providing information or relaying messages to patients and staff
  • Direct visitors to patient rooms and facilitate a welcoming environment
  • Assemble patient folders and charts for the unit
  • Maintain supplies by scanning, stocking, ordering new supplies, and disposing of expired or damaged items
  • Document care provided according to established standards
  • Verify accuracy of charges entered into the system
  • Maintain a clean work and patient environment
  • Float to various units based on identified needs
  • Participate in department and unit performance improvement activities
  • Assist with Raul and responder/Vocera/versus setup for new staff

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of a CNA program
  • Nursing Assistant Certification in applicable state
  • Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days of hire
  • Completion of a Unit Clerk course or equivalent on-the-job training (which can be provided)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced CNA program completion

Schedule

  • Two 12-hour night shifts per week
  • Weekend and holiday rotation required
