Certified Nursing Assistant Trainee

Join the Missouri Veterans Home as a Certified Nursing Assistant Trainee and get paid while earning your CNA certification. This is an entry-level position designed for individuals committed to serving veterans and building a career in nursing. You will complete classroom and clinical floor assignments while providing direct care to veterans in a supportive healthcare environment.

Clinical Setting

You will work at a Missouri Veterans Home, providing care to veterans in a long-term care setting. The role emphasizes building lasting relationships with both coworkers and the veterans you serve.

Responsibilities

• Maintain regular, reliable attendance for classroom and floor assignments
• Provide direct care to veterans including taking vitals, measuring weight and height, and assisting with personal hygiene needs
• Assist veterans with elimination and transfers
• Communicate with veterans in an effective and therapeutic manner
• Document care in the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Assist with meal service including tray delivery and feeding
• Assist with dressing and grooming as needed
• Lift, clean, and move equipment
• Stand and walk for extended periods of time

Required Qualifications

• No prior experience required
• Interest in the nursing field and desire to help others

Compensation

• Hourly wage: $16.83 during training
• Upon successful completion of certification and promotion to full-time Certified Nursing Assistant, you will earn benefits

Additional Requirements

• You must remain employed with the Missouri Veterans Commission for a minimum of 12 months following completion of the certification course
• If you leave employment before the 12-month commitment is fulfilled, you will be required to repay all costs associated with training
• Successful completion of the CNA certification course will result in promotion to a full-time Certified Nursing Assistant position
