Adventist Health Bakersfield is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant for the Telemetry unit on a per diem, night shift basis. In this role, you will provide direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed registered nurse, assisting patients with activities of daily living and performing routine clinical tasks on a cardiac monitoring unit.
Clinical Setting
Adventist Health Bakersfield is a 254-bed acute care hospital with 20 primary and specialty care medical offices located in Bakersfield, California.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including nutrition and hydration, elimination, personal care, positioning, and restorative care
- Perform technical skills including tube feedings (pyloric, jejunostomy, gastrostomy), warm and cold therapies, and finger stick capillary blood testing
- Take vital signs including pulse and blood pressure
- Help patients with bathing, dressing, and feeding
- Perform clerical duties including routing patient reports and maintaining organizational skills to support unit operations
- Provide assessment data to the certified nurse within scope of practice, including vital signs and patient verbal and nonverbal responses
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider certification from an approved vendor per Adventist Health policy
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience
- Phlebotomy certification
- Audiometry and vision training or certificate from CHDP
