Job Description

As a Certified Nursing Assistant Senior in the Cardiac IMC/Telemetry unit at CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi - Shoreline, you will provide direct support to nursing staff in caring for cardiac and telemetry patients. This role is based in a state-of-the-art facility overlooking Corpus Christi Bay, which serves as the region's largest acute care medical center with specialized cardiac, cancer, and stroke services. You will work the night shift (7 PM - 7 AM) as a full-time employee under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Nurse.

Clinical Setting

CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi - Shoreline is a Level II Trauma Center and teaching facility affiliated with the Texas A&M University System Health and Science Center College of Medicine. The facility features a state-of-the-art emergency department, ICU, Cardiac Cath Lab, and surgical suites. The hospital is an accredited Chest Pain Center and Joint Commission Stroke Team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge of patients
  • Complete pertinent documentation
  • Prepare patient rooms for admission, including setting up IV poles and adjusting beds to appropriate levels
  • Ensure all patient belongings accompany patients during transfers or discharge
  • Safely transport stable patients as required
  • Maintain security and confidentiality when transporting patients and interacting with family and visitors
  • Clean, procure, and return equipment and supplies
  • Run errands for the unit as needed
  • Assist licensed personnel in providing a safe and comfortable environment by replenishing patient rooms with water, linen, and towels
  • Perform unit-specific patient care tasks according to the skills checklist and flowsheet documentation
  • Identify obvious changes in patient condition and promptly report them to the nurse in charge
  • Assist with ordering and maintenance of stock items according to established inventory procedures
  • Keep unit supplies organized and orderly
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies
  • Communicate effectively with team members during and between shifts
  • Respond to phone calls and patient call lights
  • Adapt patient assessment, treatment, and care methods to accommodate unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age-specific, and developmental needs
  • Demonstrate competence in performing assigned patient care responsibilities in a manner that meets population-specific and developmental needs
  • Meet expectations of applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders

Required Qualifications

  • CNA license in state of employment
  • BLS certification
  • One year of relevant experience
