Certified Nursing Assistant or Nursing Assistant - Oncology Special Care (Nights)

Nebraska Medicine's Werner Cancer Hospital Specialty Care Unit (WSCU) is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant or Nursing Assistant for the night shift. This 36-bed oncology unit serves adult patients receiving chemotherapy or high-dose chemotherapy, with or without bone marrow or stem cell transplant, and provides complex medication and blood product administration.

The Special Care Unit's mission is to provide expert acute and critical care to oncology and hematology patients and families while supporting education and research.

Responsibilities

• Perform delegated patient activities as assigned by licensed nursing personnel
• Support achievement of patients' plans of care

Schedule

• Third shift: 7:00 pm to 7:30 am
• Full-time or part-time positions available

Required Qualifications for Certified Nursing Assistant

• Minimum 18 years of age
• High school education or equivalent
• Certified Nursing Assistant certification in the state of Nebraska
• Demonstrated effective communication skills
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (required for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later)

Preferred Qualifications for Certified Nursing Assistant

• Knowledge of computer data entry and word processing
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology

Required Qualifications for Nursing Assistant

• Minimum 18 years of age
• High school education or equivalent
• Six months of experience in patient care, or must be enrolled in a nursing program
• Demonstrated effective communication skills
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (required for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later)

Preferred Qualifications for Nursing Assistant

• Direct patient care experience
• Knowledge of computer data entry and word processing
