CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT - LONG TERM CARE

Minnie Hamilton Health System is hiring Certified Nursing Assistants for the Long Term Care Unit. In this role, you will provide compassionate, resident-centered care in a skilled nursing environment under the direction of licensed nursing staff. You will assist residents with activities of daily living while promoting safety, dignity, comfort, and independence, supporting their physical, emotional, and psychosocial well-being.

Clinical Setting

The Long Term Care Unit is a skilled nursing facility dedicated to supporting residents with individualized care in a safe, home-like environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, ambulation, and feeding, in accordance with individualized care plans
• Observe, monitor, and document residents' physical condition, behaviors, intake/output, and vital signs; promptly report changes to licensed nursing staff
• Provide safe mobility support, including transfers, repositioning, and use of assistive devices to prevent injury and pressure injuries
• Maintain resident rooms and common areas in a clean, orderly, and safe condition, following infection control and safety protocols
• Offer emotional support, reassurance, and companionship to residents, fostering dignity, respect, and quality of life
• Collaborate with nurses, therapy staff, and interdisciplinary team members to support resident goals and care planning
• Assist with meals and nutrition support, ensuring dietary guidelines and resident preferences are respected
• Participate in ongoing education, required training, and performance improvement activities
• Uphold organizational policies, resident rights, confidentiality standards, and regulatory compliance requirements

Required Qualifications

• Current, active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the State of West Virginia
• High school diploma or GED
• Knowledge of basic infection prevention, safety practices, and resident rights
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with residents, families, and interdisciplinary care teams
• Physical ability to perform essential functions, including lifting, bending, repositioning residents, and standing or walking for extended periods; must be able to lift 50 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility
• CPR certification
• Experience with electronic health record (EHR) documentation
• Additional training in dementia care, restorative nursing, or end-of-life care

Schedule

Hiring for 12:00 PM to 12:00 AM and 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM shifts. Expected to work 36 hours one week and 48 hours the next week. Week 1 consists of three 12-hour days; Week 2 consists of four 12-hour days, then the schedule repeats.
