Rhode Island Hospital is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. In this role, you will assist patients and families from admission through discharge in an acute care hospital setting, performing personal care and basic nursing assistant duties while maintaining a safe environment and supporting quality patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Registered Nurse to organize work and set priorities
- Provide personal care and assistance with activities of daily living
- Ambulate patients as appropriate and support rehabilitation activities
- Report unsafe conditions, equipment needing repair, and patient observations to the Registered Nurse
- Maintain infection control and quality assurance standards in accordance with hospital policies and procedures
- Accurately document patient care data in the electronic health record and clinical flowsheets
- Perform responsibilities during emergency and code situations as directed
- May function as a patient observer
- Perform other related duties as required
Required Qualifications
- Current Rhode Island license as a Nursing Assistant
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification
- Ability to perform basic computer skills
- Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages, and cultural patterns
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of experience as a Nursing Assistant
Clinical Setting
You will work in an acute care hospital environment, with prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking. The role requires repeated bending, squatting, and stooping, and may involve lifting and turning patients and equipment.
Schedule
- Day shift
- Every other weekend
- Every other holiday
- No driving required
