Mercyhealth is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide hands-on inpatient care and support under RN supervision. In this part-time role, you will assist with vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, bladder scanning, telemetry, and management of catheters, drains, and other medical devices. You will respond to patient needs, document care provided, maintain supplies and a clean environment, and float between units as needed based on patient care demands.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care as assigned according to standards of care, shift routines, and organizational policies and procedures
- Answer call lights in a timely and appropriate manner
- Document care provided according to established standards
- Maintain a clean work and patient environment
- Maintain supplies by scanning, stocking, ordering new supplies, and disposing of expired or damaged items
- Float to various units based on identified patient care needs
- Participate in department or unit performance improvement activities
- Train and precept new team members in collaboration with the unit educator
- Perform blood glucose monitoring with lab personnel
- Conduct bladder scanning procedures
- Attach patients to remote telemetry or bedside cardiac monitors
- Manage and report on collection devices including colostomy, ileostomy, fecal management systems, indwelling catheters, nasogastric tubes to suction, and surgical drains under RN direction
- Complete vital signs using manual processes for blood pressure and report abnormal values to the supervising RN
- Discontinue invasive devices under RN direction, including indwelling catheters, nasogastric tubes, peripherally inserted intravenous catheters, and similar devices as appropriate
Schedule
- 24 hours per week
- Day shift
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a CNA program
- Current CNA certificate in applicable state
- CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days of hire
Compensation
- Pay range: $17.57 - $25.48 per hour
