The opportunity

Job Description

Cape Fear Valley Medical Center is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant I or II to provide basic patient care on the Rehabilitation General unit. You will work 8-hour shifts supporting the nursing team in a rehabilitation setting, assisting patients with activities of daily living, maintaining a safe and clean patient environment, and responding to patient needs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient admissions, including orientation to the unit, hospital routines, and patient care equipment
  • Respond to patient needs by providing direct assistance or reporting needs to appropriate staff
  • Assist with implementation of the nursing plan of care by performing delegated patient care tasks
  • Maintain patient safety through proper use of equipment and supplies
  • Retrieve patient care items and supplies as needed for patient care
  • Keep the patient environment well-stocked, clean, and organized
  • Participate in cost containment efforts and accurate charging for patient services
  • Maintain four NAII skills per unit competency requirements
  • Perform waived testing per unit competency
  • Participate in educational and performance improvement activities
  • Support hospital functional capacity and patient throughput through compliance with the Hospital Innovation Project (HIP)
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Clinical Setting

You will work in the Rehabilitation General department at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, North Carolina, providing care to rehabilitation patients.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current North Carolina Nursing Assistant certification and registration with the North Carolina Division of Facility Services
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • Excellent guest relations and customer service skills
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read English
  • Ability to accept supervision from a multidisciplinary team
  • Flexibility in approach to work tasks and schedules
  • Ability to learn new skills and techniques
  • Basic knowledge of age-specific patient considerations
  • Basic computer skills

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work variable shifts
  • Ability to turn and lift patients
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting
  • Visual and auditory acuity for observing patients
  • Potential exposure to blood and body secretions, including skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials
