Haven Creek is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide direct care services to residents in our long-term care facility. In this role, you will assist residents with activities of daily living, mobility, personal hygiene, and nutrition under the direction of nursing staff and supervisors.
Clinical Setting
This position is based in a skilled nursing or assisted living facility where you will work with residents requiring varying levels of care and support.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting in accordance with individualized care plans
- Help residents with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transferring between beds, chairs, wheelchairs, bathtubs, and other equipment
- Coordinate dining services at assigned mealtimes, including meal tray delivery, feeding assistance, setup and cleanup, and documentation of meal intake
- Deliver nutritional supplements to residents at scheduled times and assist with intake as needed
- Assist with weighing residents according to facility policy and report significant weight changes to nursing staff
- Monitor and report changes in residents' skin condition, including pressure areas, skin breakdown, or skin tears
- Assist nursing staff with toileting programs and other resident care activities
- Complete daily flow sheets and documentation as directed by supervisors
- Report changes in resident condition, resident refusal, or other factors affecting your ability to perform assigned duties
- Provide supportive services to nurses, medication technicians, and other staff as needed
- Maintain confidentiality of all protected health information
- Follow all facility safety, hygiene, and infection control policies and procedures
- Participate in emergency drills and training
- Report work-related injuries, occupational exposures, and any allegations of abuse or neglect immediately to supervisors
- Attend care plan meetings for assigned residents
- Use proper lifting techniques and body mechanics at all times
Schedule and Shifts
This is a non-exempt, hourly position. Shifts are available as follows:
- Days: 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM
- Swing: 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM
- Grave: 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM
You may be required to work beyond normal hours, weekends, and holidays as staffing needs require.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Current Food Handler Permit
- No disciplinary action in effect against any certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in good standing with the state
- At least one year of experience as a certified nursing assistant in long-term care
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Ability to lift, move, push, or pull a minimum of 35 pounds
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and perform overhead lifting
- Ability to walk, stand, sit, and stoop for extended periods
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to perform resident care
- Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday
- Ability to assist in evacuation of residents during emergencies
- May be exposed to infectious diseases and conditions including AIDS, Coronavirus, Hepatitis B, and Tuberculosis
- May be exposed to infectious waste, dust, tobacco smoke, disinfectants, and other air contaminants
- May be subject to falls, burns from equipment, and odors
- May encounter hostile or emotional residents, family members, or visitors
- Must meet general health requirements including medical and physical exams and verification of immunity status to various infectious diseases
