Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA/STNA)

As a Certified Nursing Assistant, you will provide direct care and support to residents in a skilled nursing facility, assisting with activities of daily living while promoting their independence, comfort, and well-being. You will work under the supervision of licensed nursing staff to help residents maintain their quality of life and dignity.

Clinical Setting

This position is based in a skilled nursing facility where you will work directly with residents who may have complex healthcare needs. You will perform care in a medical setting and participate in a team-based approach to resident care.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to residents under licensed nursing supervision, including assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding
• Assist residents with mobility and transfers using proper lifting and positioning techniques to ensure safety and comfort
• Monitor residents' vital signs, intake and output, and report any changes or concerns to the nursing team
• Assist with resident admission, transfers, and discharges, including orienting new residents to their surroundings
• Support residents' social and recreational activities by engaging them in meaningful interactions and escorting them to group activities
• Maintain a clean and organized living environment, including making beds, tidying rooms, and ensuring cleanliness and infection control standards
• Assist with resident dining services, including meal setup, feeding assistance, and recording food and fluid intake
• Document care provided and resident observations accurately and timely in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements
• Participate in educational opportunities and training programs to maintain CNA certification and enhance skills in geriatric care
• Assist new CNA team members with training and orientation to facility policies, procedures, and layout
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to resident care planning and goal setting
• Contribute to a positive work environment through professionalism, teamwork, and effective communication
• Perform all other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Current CNA or STNA certification in the state where you will work
• CPR certification
• One year of experience in a skilled nursing facility or similar medical setting
• Ability to build rapport with residents through a compassionate and caring demeanor
• Commitment to providing high-quality, resident-centered care with empathy and compassion
• Strong clinical skills in assessment, treatment planning, and intervention implementation

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, talk, hear, stoop, kneel, crouch, stretch, and twist
• Stamina to stand and move about the facility to perform frequent rounds and respond to emergent situations
• Emotional resilience and ability to cope with the physical and emotional demands of working with residents who may have complex healthcare needs
• Capability to lift and transfer residents safely using proper body mechanics and assistance as needed
• Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus
• Ability to maintain regular attendance and timeliness as set by your department supervisor or manager
• Ability to accept criticism and deal calmly and effectively with high-stress situations
• Ability to use abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously without fatigue
• Ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or holding your arm and hand in one position
• Ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects

Schedule

Full-time and part-time positions are available. Scheduling includes weekdays, weekends, days, nights, and 12-hour shifts. Specific shift times include 6:00 PM to 10:30 PM. PRN shifts are not currently being hired.
