The opportunity

Job Description

Wynwood Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center is hiring Certified Nursing Assistants to provide routine daily nursing care to residents in our facility. You will work directly with residents according to their individual care plans and under the direction of nursing supervisors.

Clinical Setting

You will work throughout the nursing service area, including drug rooms, nurses' stations, and resident rooms. You will interact with residents, personnel, visitors, and government agencies under all conditions and circumstances. The role involves frequent interruptions and may require you to work beyond normal hours, on weekends and holidays, and in other positions temporarily when necessary. You may be called back during emergency conditions such as severe weather, evacuation, or post-disaster situations.

Schedule and Shifts

Full-time positions are available on the following shifts:

  • 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM
  • 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM
  • 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Every weekend is required. Shift differentials apply: $1.50 per hour for the 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM shift and $1.00 per hour for the 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM shift.

Compensation and Benefits

Required Qualifications

  • Current New Jersey CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) certification
  • Minimum 10th grade education
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday
  • Ability to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet
  • Ability to push, pull, move, and/or carry 25 pounds a minimum distance of 50 feet
  • Ability to see and hear or use prosthetics that enable these senses to function adequately
  • Ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position
  • Ability to function independently with flexibility and personal integrity
  • Ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies
  • Ability to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public
  • Ability to work harmoniously with other personnel
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of residents served
  • Willingness to be a supportive team member and contribute to team concept
  • Willingness to seek out new methods and principles and incorporate them into existing nursing practices
  • Ability to relate information concerning a resident's condition
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health and safety of other individuals in the workplace
  • Must meet general health requirements set forth by facility policies, including medical and physical examination
  • May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations

Working Conditions

This position involves exposure to various workplace hazards and conditions:

  • Subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, and reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants
  • Subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions, including tuberculosis and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses
  • May be subject to handling and exposure to hazardous chemicals
  • Subject to frequent interruptions and interactions with residents, personnel, visitors, and government agencies under all conditions and circumstances
  • Subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors
  • Required to attend and participate in continuing educational programs
