Certified Nursing Assistant CNA

This position provides direct personal care and assistance to residents in a senior living or skilled nursing facility. As a Certified Nursing Assistant, you will support residents with activities of daily living, maintain their comfort and hygiene, and assist nursing staff in delivering routine care according to each resident's individualized care plan.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with personal hygiene including bathing, showering, shampooing, grooming, nail care, and ear, eye, and oral care
• Help residents with activities of daily living such as meals, feeding, hydration, ambulation, turning, and repositioning
• Transport residents to and from appointments, activities, social programs, events, and visitor areas
• Assist with resident admissions, discharges, and transfers while utilizing care plans
• Take and record vital signs including temperature, blood pressure, and respiration
• Document and report information regarding resident health, intake and output, changes in medical condition, and care provided
• Assist residents in and out of bed and into wheelchairs using proper mechanical devices and body mechanics
• Report all changes in resident condition, accidents, and incidents to the Nurse Supervisor, Unit Manager, or Director of Nursing immediately
• Provide range of motion exercises
• Provide routine care for bedfast residents, including turning as needed
• Recognize and report signs or symptoms of abuse or changes in condition
• Remove and replace bedding according to schedule or as needed
• Maintain required records according to facility procedures and state and federal regulations
• Participate in department meetings, volunteer activities, committee work, and facility surveys conducted by government agencies
• Stay current with federal and state regulations and professional standards of practice

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Active Nursing Assistant certification from the state of South Carolina
• Ability to work in a physically demanding, high-stress environment
• Ability to relate to and work with those who are ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile
• Full range of body motion including handling and moving residents; ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and handle objects with hands and fingers
• Ability to talk, hear, and see adequately to perform job duties
• Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday
• Ability to function independently with flexibility and personal integrity
• Ability to work effectively with residents, staff, and support agencies
• Willingness to assist in resident evacuation during emergency situations

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of experience in senior living, hospice, in-home health care, or skilled nursing in a therapeutic recreation and/or senior activities role
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs

Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions

• Must meet general health requirements set by facility policies, including medical and physical examination
• Work involves exposure to blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, and repetitive motions
• Position requires light to moderate physical work
• Must possess adequate sight and hearing or use prosthetics that enable these senses to function adequately
