The opportunity

Job Description

Brookhaven Hospice is seeking a Per Diem Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to provide hands-on care to patients at the end of life. Working closely with the nursing team, you will ensure each patient's physical, emotional, and personal needs are met with respect, empathy, and professionalism in patients' homes throughout Wilmington and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities

  • Follow the plan of care to ensure patient comfort and well-being
  • Attend promptly to patient and family requests, offering compassionate support
  • Assist with personal care needs including bathing, oral hygiene, changing bedding and clothing, and shampooing
  • Provide exceptional customer service and go above and beyond to ensure optimal patient satisfaction
  • Support patients' families by sharing knowledge and expertise in caring for terminally ill loved ones
  • Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with agency and regulatory standards

Schedule

  • Per Diem
  • Coverage area: Wilmington and surrounding areas

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Current unencumbered CNA certificate in the state
  • Minimum one year of experience as a CNA in an acute care or long-term care setting
  • Current CPR certification if state-mandated
  • Current driver's license and vehicle insurance
  • Access to dependable transportation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hospice experience

Compensation and Benefits

  • Pay range: $20.00 to $24.00 per hour. Final compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, qualifications, and specific responsibilities of the position.
