This part-time Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) position is based in Newport News, Virginia, and focuses on providing direct care to residents in a memory care setting. You will work under the supervision of nursing leadership and household staff to support residents' daily living needs, personal care, and quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Attend to resident personal hygiene and care needs, including grooming, hygiene, dining, nutrition, mobility, elimination, psychosocial support, and safety
- Organize and prepare all supplies necessary to complete care tasks
- Observe residents closely for changing needs and conditions, reporting immediately to nursing or household leadership
- Follow universal precautions, infection control, sanitation, and safety standards in all work activities
- Participate actively in care planning and care conferences, serving as a resident advocate and honoring their choices and preferences
- Assist residents with personal laundry tasks including washing, ironing, folding, and sorting
- Maintain clean resident rooms, household common spaces, support spaces, and equipment
- Participate in meal preparation and service
- Facilitate spontaneous activities based on resident choice and household preference, accompanying residents in activities
- Maintain appropriate documentation related to caregiving, social services, medication administration, treatments, activities, and dining
- Participate in continuous quality improvement processes to identify and address household issues
- Demonstrate reliable and dependable attendance and adherence to facility attendance policy
Compensation
- Hourly rate: $18.90 - $24.60
- Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors including relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs
Required Qualifications
- Certified Nurse Aid (CNA) certification from Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) required upon hire
- CPR/BLS certification from American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or American Safety and Health Institute required within 30 days of hire
- First Aid certification from American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or American Safety and Health Institute required within 30 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications
- Less than 1 year of prior nurse aide work experience
