The opportunity

Job Description

Monte Vista Healthcare Center, a 69-bed skilled nursing facility in Duarte, is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide routine daily nursing care to residents. You will work under the direction of nursing supervisors to ensure each resident receives compassionate, dignified care in accordance with their individual assessment plan and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

Clinical Setting

You will work in a skilled nursing facility providing direct resident care across nursing areas. You will interact regularly with residents, families, visitors, and interdisciplinary care teams.

Responsibilities

  • Answer call lights and respond to resident requests promptly
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, including grooming, bathing, and dressing
  • Help residents with feeding, including cutting food and spoon feeding as needed
  • Assist residents with sitting, standing, and walking
  • Properly lift and transition residents between beds, wheelchairs, and chairs
  • Transport residents to dining areas and activity spaces
  • Ensure all nursing care is provided with privacy and confidentiality
  • Make residents comfortable by adjusting bedding, providing water, and attending to comfort needs
  • Report changes in resident condition to the charge nurse or nurse supervisor in a timely manner
  • Maintain resident confidentiality and protect resident files in accordance with HIPAA standards
  • Follow all facility policies and procedures, including infection control protocols
  • Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, or hazardous materials to a supervisor immediately
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completion of CNA training from an accredited school
  • Valid CNA certificate number verified on CDPH.gov (required for all CNA positions with no exceptions)
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language
  • Ability to use a computer or tablet to enter resident data

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some prior experience in nursing or healthcare settings

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to move intermittently throughout the day across nursing areas
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds independently; lifting up to 100 pounds requires assistance
  • Ability to read fine print on tablets, progress notes, and medical labels

Working Conditions

  • May encounter frequent interruptions
  • May be requested to work beyond scheduled hours
  • Subject to call-back during emergency conditions, including severe weather, evacuation, and post-disaster situations
  • May be exposed to odors, dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and air contaminants
  • May be exposed to infectious waste and communicable diseases, including tuberculosis, HIV, and Hepatitis B
  • May be exposed to or handle hazardous chemicals
