Certified Nursing Assistant -(CNA) ICU - Days

Wellstar Spalding Regional Medical Center is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to join the Critical Care Unit on the day shift. As a Care Partner, you will work under the direction of the Registered Nurse to support patient care in a fast-paced ICU environment. You will focus on promoting a positive patient experience by assisting with daily living activities, comfort measures, and basic patient care functions while collaborating with nurses, physicians, and the broader healthcare team.

Clinical Setting

You will work in the Spalding Critical Care Unit, supporting acute care patients in an intensive care setting. The role requires the ability to function in a fast-paced, stressful environment with effective multitasking and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care including hygiene, nutrition, elimination, and physical comfort measures as assigned
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) and ambulation
• Take vital signs and document findings; report any unusual findings to the Charge Nurse
• Perform basic housekeeping duties in patient rooms and bathrooms
• Clean and sanitize personal care items per policy and standards
• Stock medical supplies, skin care products, linens, and incontinent supplies in patient care areas
• Ensure patient safety by removing or controlling fall hazards such as cords, oxygen tubing, and clutter
• Ensure oxygen signage is displayed and tanks are stored correctly
• Ensure bedrails, bed alarms, and personal alarms are utilized correctly
• Answer call lights and telephones promptly and notify appropriate staff of patient needs
• Resolve patient concerns and immediately inform the Charge Nurse or manager of complaints
• Proactively offer assistance and comfort measures to patients and families
• Protect patient rights and dignity at all times and maintain confidentiality
• Participate in patient rounding per standards
• Provide emotional support by listening and establishing rapport with patients and families
• Recognize and respect religious and cultural practices of patients and families
• Document all patient care delivered in a timely manner as required by policy
• Perform approved advanced technical skills as needed, which may include phlebotomy, simple treatments, dressing changes, oral suctioning, and discontinuing Foley catheters
• Perform clerical functions including data retrieval, maintaining unit supplies, and transporting supplies and patient medications
• Comply with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Current CNA certification valid in the state of Georgia (required upon hire)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification or ARC-BLS (American Red Cross Basic Life Support) or BLS-I (Basic Life Support - Instructor) (required upon hire)
• Ability to read, write, and speak the English language
• Basic computer skills
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
• Ability to collaborate with other healthcare providers in patient care
• Ability to multitask
• Ability to function in stressful and emergency situations
• Strong attention to detail
• Time management skills
• Less than 1 year of related experience required

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous hospital experience
