The opportunity

Job Description

The Minnesota Veterans Home in Preston is seeking two part-time Certified Nursing Assistants to provide compassionate, person-centered care for residents in a long-term nursing facility. In this role, you will assist residents with activities of daily living, ensure safety and quality of care, and help residents achieve their highest functional capabilities in an environment that promotes caring, respect, and values the individual.

Clinical Setting

You will work at the Minnesota Veterans Home-Preston, a long-term nursing care facility serving veterans.

Schedule

  • Position Type: Part-time, day shift
  • Hours: 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
  • Minimum Hours: At least 32 hours per 2-week pay period, with potential for additional hours based on business needs
  • Days of Work: Varies, including every other weekend
  • Telework: Not eligible
  • Travel: Not required

Compensation and Benefits

  • Hourly Rate: $21.59 - $28.94
  • New Hire Bonus: $2,500 (may be eligible)
  • Referral Bonus: Current Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs or State of Minnesota employees who refer you may be eligible for a $1,000 bonus

Note: These positions are not initially eligible for health and dental insurance benefits. Required Qualifications

  • Current registration as a Nursing Assistant with the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) Nursing Assistant Registry, or registration by the time of hire
  • Ability to communicate effectively, follow instructions, and take clear notes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current registration as a Nursing Assistant with the MDH Nursing Assistant Registry
  • Experience working as a certified nursing assistant
  • Experience providing activities of daily living (ADLs)
  • Experience working in a long-term care environment
  • Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and/or Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross

Additional Requirements

  • A Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check may be conducted on finalists and must be passed
  • Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening or chest x-ray required prior to employment
  • Employment reference checks will be conducted on finalists, which may include a review of documentation related to job performance and contact with former employers
