Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Human Services Technician (HST) / Part-Time, Day Shift

The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) for the Montevideo Veterans Home, a long-term nursing facility. In this role, you will provide compassionate, person-centered care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living, ensuring safety and quality of care, and helping residents achieve their highest functional capabilities in an environment that promotes caring, respect, and individual values.

Clinical Setting

You will work in a long-term nursing care environment serving veterans and other residents at the Montevideo Veterans Home.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs)
• Ensure resident safety and quality of care
• Support residents in attaining their highest functional capabilities
• Communicate effectively and maintain clear documentation
• Follow instructions and maintain professional standards

Schedule

This is a part-time position with a day shift schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The work schedule will include at least 48 hours per 2-week pay period and may include additional hours based on business needs. Days of work vary and include weekends as assigned. Telework is not available for this position.

Required Qualifications

• Current registration as a Nursing Assistant with the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) Nursing Assistant Registry, or registration by the time of hire
• At least 18 years of age
• Ability to communicate effectively, follow instructions, and take clear notes

Preferred Qualifications

• Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and/or Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross
• Experience working as a certified nursing assistant
• Experience providing activities of daily living (ADLs)
• Experience working in a long-term care environment

Additional Requirements

• A Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check may be conducted on finalists and must be passed prior to employment
• Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening or chest x-ray required prior to employment
• Employment reference checks will be conducted on finalists, including review of job performance documentation and contact with former employers

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: $21.59 - $28.94 per hour

New hire bonus: $2,500 (eligibility may apply)

This position is initially eligible for partial employer contribution towards health and dental insurance benefits.
