Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Happy Siesta is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to provide personal care and supervision to residents in a long-term care setting. You will work under the onsite supervision of the Charge Nurse to support residents' safety, comfort, security, and independence in accordance with their individualized care plans.

Clinical Setting

This position is located at 423 Roosevelt Street, Remsen, Iowa 51050. You will work in a long-term care facility providing direct resident care.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with personal care including dressing, undressing, feeding, toileting, grooming, and bathing according to their care plans and daily schedules
• Help residents with before and after meal routines, including hand and face washing, transportation to and from the dining area, and meal assistance
• Provide feeding assistance, hydration support, and between-meal nourishment as assigned
• Assist with all elimination needs including bedpan, urinal, and bathroom assistance
• Perform perineal care and catheter care per facility policy
• Reposition immobile residents as instructed and assist with transfers using appropriate equipment and body mechanics
• Assist residents with exercise, active and passive range of motion, and ambulation as indicated by the care plan
• Take and accurately record vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration rate, blood pressure, weights, and ankle measurements as directed
• Observe and report to the Charge Nurse any changes in residents' medical condition, health status, behavioral concerns, or unusual incidents
• Document all care provided and resident observations according to established procedures
• Report and document resident incidents and injuries
• Maintain residents' rooms in a clean, neat, and clutter-free condition
• Perform incidental housekeeping and maintenance tasks to maintain a safe and pleasant environment
• Protect residents' personal belongings including eyeglasses, dentures, hearing aids, jewelry, and clothing
• Respond to call lights within 15 minutes
• Participate in facility incontinence programs and skin prevention protocols
• Assist with resident admissions, discharges, and transfers
• Participate in information exchange between shifts to ensure continuity of care
• Respond to inappropriate or maladaptive resident behaviors in a manner consistent with the care plan
• Listen to residents' and families' questions and concerns and report them to the Charge Nurse
• Maintain infection control practices and follow Material Safety Data Sheets for all supplies
• Operate equipment including mechanical lifts, electronic scales, shower equipment, adjustable chairs and beds, and other facility equipment
• Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor

Required Qualifications

• Current valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the State of Iowa, as evidenced by listing on Iowa's Nurse Aide Registry or documentation of successful completion of competency and skills tests from an approved testing agency
• Ability to comply with residents' care plans and follow established procedures
• Ability to safely lift, transfer, and handle residents using approved procedures and body mechanics
• Ability to accurately observe, report, and document resident information
• Ability to maintain residents' rights, dignity, privacy, and freedom of choice
• Knowledge of infection control policies and procedures
• Ability to operate facility equipment safely and efficiently
