Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) │Full-Time │2:30pm - 11pm

Bethesda is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care support in a long-term care setting. In this full-time position working 2:30pm to 11pm, you will assist residents with activities of daily living including hygiene, nutrition, ambulation, elimination, and safety under the direction of the Charge Nurse.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care assistance including hygiene, nutrition, ambulation, elimination, and safety support
• Complete admission procedures including personal belonging sheets, vital signs, height and weight measurements, and resident orientation
• Answer call lights promptly and respond to all resident needs
• Turn and reposition residents every 2 hours; reposition seated residents every hour
• Take vital signs and weights accurately and report findings to the Charge Nurse promptly
• Ensure proper application of slings, splints, braces, and positioning devices per physician or therapy orders
• Accurately measure and record intake and output on I&O sheets and relay information to Charge Nurse at shift change
• Perform procedures and treatments as instructed by Charge Nurse, such as sitz baths, moist packs, and isolation techniques
• Maintain appropriate supplies and equipment on the unit and alert Charge Nurse or purchasing clerk of additional needs
• Complete rounds as assigned throughout the shift
• Document appropriately in patient records based on skill level and established standards
• Attend continuing education classes and in-services
• Maintain effective working relationships with team members, Charge Nurse, and department managers
• Maintain discretion with confidential information
• Provide report to Charge Nurse at end of shift and complete walking rounds with oncoming or leaving shift
• Accept reassignments to other areas and take on increased responsibilities as needed

Required Qualifications

• Active Certified Nursing Assistant certification in the state where you will be working
• CPR certification, or willingness to obtain within six months of employment
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
• Ability to lift heavy objects using proper lifting techniques and with assistance when necessary
• Ability to transfer and move patients weighing 200+ pounds using proper lifting techniques and with assistance when necessary
• Ability to push and pull equipment weighing in excess of 40 pounds using proper techniques and with assistance when necessary
• Manual dexterity, coordination, and skillful use of hands when working with patients and equipment
• Ability to physically perform necessary documentation in writing or use of tape recorder
• Visual acuity with the ability to distinguish color
• Excellent communication skills to interact verbally with patients, visitors, and staff
• Ability to manage time and organize daily schedule to meet productivity standards

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma
• Long-term care experience
