Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Day Hospital

Join the Day Hospital at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center as a Certified Nursing Assistant. This 32-bed medical-surgical short stay unit serves nearly every service in the hospital and includes a 4-chair infusion suite. You will work in a fast-paced environment providing direct patient care under the direction of Registered Nurses.

Responsibilities

• Participate in implementing the nursing process by providing direct care to patients under RN direction
• Perform special procedures correctly under RN direction
• Create and maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, self, co-workers, and the facility
• Ensure complete, accurate, and timely communication of patient information
• Communicate effectively, positively, and professionally with the team, co-workers, patients, and family members
• Take personal responsibility for performance, professional growth, and development
• Provide age and developmentally appropriate patient care in accordance with established guidelines

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Completion of a state-approved Nurse Aide I course
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to perform effectively with frequent workload changes and competing demands

Schedule

• Part-time position
• Hours vary to meet unit needs
• Must fulfill a minimum of 12 hours per pay period

Work Environment

• Regular contact with patients, family members, visitors, co-workers, and medical staff
• Regular exposure to blood-borne diseases, infectious and contagious diseases
• Subject to multiple interruptions
• Occasional exposure to radiation hazards and cleaning agents/chemicals
• Occasionally subject to irregular hours
• Use of personal protective equipment required

Compensation and Benefits

• Pay range: $19.80 - $29.70 per hour
• Base compensation determined by qualifications, skills, relevant experience, and training
• Premium pay available for shift differentials and on-call duties
