Certified Nursing Assistant -- 3 South -- General Hospital

Join the nursing team at General Hospital as a Certified Nursing Assistant on 3 South, where you will deliver quality direct patient care under the direction of Clinical Nurses. This role focuses on supporting patients with activities of daily living, assisting with clinical procedures, and maintaining a safe and clean patient environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver quality care to patients as delegated by the Clinical Nurse and according to hospital policy and procedure
• Assist with procedures as determined by hospital policy, procedure, and regulatory guidelines
• Maintain a neat, clean, and safe patient and unit environment
• Provide assistance to medical and nursing staff with patient activities of daily living and daily assignments
• Provide courteous and prompt response to patient requests
• Assist with unit maintenance related to ordering and receiving supplies, medications, manuals, and equipment
• Assist in orientation of new Nursing Assistants
• May be required to cover the house
• Maintain and document all applicable required education
• Demonstrate positive customer service and co-worker relations
• Comply with the company's attendance policy
• Participate in continuous quality improvement activities of the department and institution
• Perform work in a cost-effective manner
• Perform work in accordance with all departmental pay practices and scheduling policies, including overtime, various shift work, and on-call situations
• Perform work in alignment with the overall mission and strategic plan of the organization
• Follow organizational and departmental policies and procedures

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (formalized training or relevant experience will be accepted in lieu of high school diploma/GED)
• Certified Nursing Assistant credential
• Basic Life Support certification (must be obtained within 30 days of hire)

Knowledge and Skills

You must demonstrate competency through initial orientation and ongoing competency validation to independently perform tasks and additional duties as specified in the job description and unit-specific competency checklist. You must possess or obtain by the end of the orientation period the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment, or care for the identified patient ages, including the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs, knowledge of growth and development, and understanding of the range of treatment needed by patients.
